The day started with the radio alarm at 7am - I listened to the news and the weather forecast and got up slowly and joined Mr Cee for some breakfast.  After that, I got dressed and went outside to water the hanging baskets in the back garden as I'd forgotten the night before and the forecast was for 32C/89F and very sunny.

I pootled around on my iPad for a bit as there's a couple of apps with little short daily challenges I like to do and only take about 15 minutes to do all of them (a crossword, card solitaire, a find the difference game and one where you dress a mannequin according to a theme).  Then I cleaned up the kitchen and got ready to go out to meet a friend at our local station.

I walked to the station and met my friend at 9.45am - and we caught the fast train to London Charing Cross which only takes 25 minutes. A bus then took us to the Wellcome Collection - a free museum to see the free Rooted Beings exhibition.

It was much hotter in London (around 34C/93F) and so the lovely air conditioned building was a joy after the heat of outside! The entrance foyer to the Wellcome Collection always makes me smile as there is a statue by Anthony Gorman on the ceiling....

The museum is an eclectic collection of all kinds of things and is advertised as "the free destination for the incurably curious". The exhibition we had gone to see was "a meditative reflection on the world of plants and fungi" and was very interesting. I particularly enjoyed the links to Kew Gardens and it had some fascinating exhibits - not least all the poisonous plants in the part designed by Patricia Domíngues (Vegetal Matrix). You can see some of artwork on this page of the Wellcome Collection website.

The exhibition took around an hour to explore by which time we decided that we'd head off for some lunch, so we got back on the bus and headed for the Strand and a favourite (air-conditioned!) Greek restaurant. Neither of us has to pay on the train and bus as we have an 'over 60s' free travel card and as the exhibition was also free we only ended up paying for lunch!

After lunch, we headed home on the train and Mr Cee picked us up from the station, dropped my friend at her house and we got back home at 2.15pm.

I felt very dusty after my trip to London so I had a shower when I got in, and then we relaxed and caught up as Mr Cee had finished his work for the day. At 7pm we headed next door as our neighbours had invited us round for cheese, bread and wine which was lovely. We sat outside in the garden as it was still very warm and had a lovely evening. It was still 22C/72F when we headed back home at 11pm and headed for bed. Lights out at 11.30pm.
